Butterfly Brooch
Today I was buying a birthday present for my mom on Etsy and I ran across a brooch that looks exactly like one my grandmother used to wear. I am unsure what happened to hers but I had to have this one! Vintage and it only cost me 11 dollars! I used to have so much costume jewelry from my grandma...all of which they are selling cheap vintage knockoffs of at Forever 21. Wish I hadn't played with and gotten rid of it all :-(

Ah glorious weekend
I happened to have quite a luxurious weekend, that with it being three days and all, and I still cannot get over how relaxed I am. Even after I went to work all day today! Two mental pictures stick out in my head from the weekend. The first is standing on the beach where the sand is wet but not covered in water and seeing all the golden little pyrite sparkles in the 3:00 hour. They were so pretty...not anything I could capture with a camera. The second is swimming at night with Mr. T. His hair stuck out at all kinds of gorgeous angles and his back muscles flexing while he swam. :-) Maybe "weekend" is just a state of mind.

Today I almost had nothing to write about and then I went on Facebook. I clicked this little thing that will tell you the most used words in your statuses. Below are the results.
My most used words
Day:Used 42 times
Love:Used 30 times
Chris:Used 30 times
Today:Used 28 times
Going:Used 25 times
Why:Used 21 times
Too:Used 15 times
Still:Used 15 times
Tonight:Used 14 times
Wants:Used 14 times
Life:Used 14 times
Night:Used 13 times
I could not be any more happier with the words that showed up on my list. My boyfriend's name is there, love is there, and why is there (I believe one should question everything in life, apparently I do) I just think this is the best list of words ever! Also, I didn't have much to eat today and I came home and fixed myself a little juice and vodka. It got me in such a good mood so quick! Instantly happy. Drinking is not the answer for things, but I worked 12 hours today and have the next three days off so it was definitely the right thing for the evening. One last thing. An old friend from college is getting married in Mexico and her Facebook status said she is packing up and inventory'ing boxes of wedding stuff. I am so happy for her and that sounds like so much fun! I can't wait to plan a wedding....and it doesn't even have to be mine! :-) Maybe that is what I am destined to do. It's like toilet paper...almost recession proof. People will always be getting married. One last thing... I love anything with salt, butter, garlic, or shrimp. Anyway....thanks for reading this drivel based stream of consciousness.

Biking Forward
So many thoughts swirling around in my head today! Lets start at the beginning. 1. I wore the most gorgeous red patent leather shoes today and they made me feel awesome!
2. The Wii bowling tournament started at work today and I can't wait to bowl my three games tomorrow and blow everyone out of the water. The winners get a little crystal bowling trophy and I want to WIN it! I am a teacher at a junior high and this is the most exciting thing to happen at school all year.
3. When I got home from work today I said hello to Mr. T and our dog (Kyra) and then I went to open the door to the deck (which Mr. T knew I would do since it is such a nice day out) on the deck was a cruiser bike! Mr. T bought it for me and surprised me! I have been wanting a cruiser bike for sooooo long! I am so excited! I can't wait to go on bike rides! When I was young my family and I used to go to Iowa to visit my grandparents. Some family there would always let my brother and I borrow these old (I'm talking 1960's) bikes and we would ride around the small town all day.Good memories. I also have awesome memories of the best 4th of July I ever had riding cruisers all over Santa Cruz with Mr. T. Now I have a cruiser bike all my own! :-)
4. Before Mr. T left for work we watched the most hilarious video of David Caruso on CSI Miami giving his sunglasses one liners. See for yourself below. All in all, good day!

Things I Totally Love and Orange Blossoms
Things I totally love, all discovered recently
1. When I make dinner and my boyfriend completely devours it because it was so good
2. Hugging my boyfriend when he is wearing his super crazy hand knitted (by him) fisherman sweater. It is really soft!
3. Not being able to wait to go out to breakfast on sat. morning.
4. The smell of orange blossoms!
Growing up in Northern CA I knew nothing of that smell in the air when the orange trees are blooming. It wasn't until I lived in Fresno for about a year that I realized how amazing it is! Well since I moved from Fresno in 2003 I hadn't smelled that smell until now! The small town I teach in has a lot of orange trees and getting out of my car this morning, the smell was all around me. It took me back in time but it is also so pleasant. Even though I don't like to eat oranges I would like to have an orange tree in my yard someday. Back when I lived in Fresno I used to drive about 40 minutes to visit my (now ex) boyfriend. The entire drive was through orange groves and it was usually dusk (my favorite time of night). They smelled so good and with the music playing loud, the windows down and the warm night air...Fresno couldn't get any better! To be honest it is Fresno's only redeeming quality! LOL
In other news Mr. T and I cannot wait to try this restaurant for breakfast or lunch this weekend. We heard it is where are the surfers go to eat and a friend of our has seen Shaun White (pro snowboarder, olympic gold medalist) there twice! It is super cheap and the menu looks amazing!!!!!!! I will update once we actually eat there.

I Love Etsy!
There is this little happy place on the internet that I can go to feel inspired and know I can buy something amazing for myself without spending a bunch of money. It also makes me happy because I don't feel like I am employing 5 year old children in Indonesia! This little happy place is called Etsy. This site has handmade items from people ranging from jewelry to furniture with everything in between. My favorite things to look for on here are jewelry and art.
The last time I was on Etsy I found this one artist selling her prints for buy 1, get 1! Her art is simple, joyful, inexpensive and cute depending on where you want to put it. I would want to buy the whale one and put it in my bathroom. I like cheeky artwork like that. Below are links to Etsy and then this particular sellers page as well. Enjoy!

Pineapple juice and the tiki room
On the drive home from skiing today with Mr. T, I was reminded of one of the most relaxing and wonderful moments in my life. We were at Disneyland (CA) on an early fall evening, which means warm Santa Ana winds. We stopped by the Tiki Tiki room and while waiting, ordered a Dole Pineapple juice. We sat there and drank that juice and felt that warm wind and listened to the Hawaiian music playing. I felt like I was instantly whisked off to another place entirely. That moment will be hands down one of the best Disney or otherwise moments in my life. Just a little bright spot to think about.
In other news Mr. T and I went skiing today. I haven't been in two years and I will be paying for it tomorrow. He was so nice to let me try and teach him to ski even though he can snowboard. I love him for that! I also realized that spring skiing isn't quite the same in Southern CA as it is in Northern CA...maybe next time we'll go in January so we can skip the slushy, uneven conditions. I had a wonderful time with Mr. T, as always! Now on to a 4 day work week!

First post!
To be honest I am unsure what this blog will be about but one day I just said to myself "Gee I think i'll start a blog." So here goes. We'll see what happens.
Something sweet that happened to me the other day is that I was driving in the car with my boyfriend (Mr. T). He asked me if I had heard a particular song and I said no. As I was listening I felt like he was playing it for me to tell me something. I am a big fan of song lyrics so I love when people do this. Turns out it is an amazing song. I You Tube'd it and found out that some people have done their wedding dance to it AND Anthony Keidas wrote it for Flea to use to propose to his girlfriend. Quite a romantic song! :-) I love Mr. T and I love this song. Enjoy!
